Over a Barrel. Stories from the oil economy

08 February 2008

2008 sees the 20th anniversary of Piper Alpha, the worst offshore oil disaster to have occurred in the North Sea. Photographer Owen Logan's work is characteristically critical of the oil economy. He says: "It's not so much that oil and democracy don't mix, but more that the oil economy reveals the dubious nature of modern democracy." This exhibition shows his view in a series of powerful portraits. Runs 23 February - 5 April.

Events

  • Opening Friday 22 February, 6-8pm
  • Talk + Discussion 'Carbon Generations' Thursday 27 March, 7pm. With contributions from Platform London and Owen Logan.
