Calling artists: awards of up to £1,000

Gray’s School of Art is committed to supporting and encouraging innovative professional practice within the national and international context of the North East. As part of this goal Gray’s is committed to encouraging the retention of our graduates within the city of Aberdeen & to keep and support artists who have arrived here independently. In partnership with the Scottish Arts Council, Gray’s will continue to administer the Gray’s Aberdeen Visual Artists Award scheme.

The scheme has been established as a means of assisting individual artists with the immediate costs of researching, creating and presenting new work through grants to support these costs and by doing so support the work of outstanding artists based in Aberdeen city.

Awards up to a maximum value of £1000 are offered.

Artists are encouraged to request the appropriate funds required for their projects but will not automatically be awarded the maximum grant available.

Deadline for Applications this year: 1st March 2008.

The Awards Panel will meet within 3 weeks of this deadline and all applicants will receive notification of the Awards Panel’s decision within 2 weeks of this meeting. Successful applicants will be posted on the Gray’s School of Art website and may be asked to sit on the panel in the future.
