12thNo Time to Lose. A search for work / life balance

Startled by what seems to be an ever increasing problem world-wide, curator Milena Placentile (Canada) produced the show No Time to Lose for Peacock Visual Arts as a response to the systemic decline of personal time experienced due to increased hours spent working. Featuring work by international artists Amy Alexander, Cathy Busby, Anja Hertenberger & Anja Steidinger, Saki Satom, Abigail Schoneboom and Tobaron Waxman. Opening night Thursday 12 June, 6- 8pm. Runs 13 June - 26 July. Lunchtime discussion (free entry) 13 June, 12.30-1.30pm.

In his exhibition Calum MacKenzie, former director of Glasgow Print Studio, shows how Digital Imaging has influenced his work as an artist / printmaker. He says: "Image processing by digitally manipulating and modifying a picture doesn’t necessarily replace old ways of working, rather, it encourages innovation." Open night Thursday 12 June, 6 - 8pm.
4thRGU students produce 3D view of new art centre

Two students have provided a glimpse of Aberdeen's future with a 3-D movie of Union Terrace Gardens' new arts centre. The visuals were created by Robin Hall and Robert Paul, both third year students on the Design for Digital Media course at Gray's School of Art, The Robert Gordon University (RGU). It's the story of the Pollok Free State, initiated by the actions of local resident Colin Macleod who began a tree-top protest against the building of the M77 motorway, through Pollok Park, Glasgow, in the early 1990s. American artist Amy Alexander observes that people seem to always be working, even when we're playing, because the tools of work have become the tools of leisure, thereby making leisure virtually indiscernible from work. For No Time to Lose, she brings the humorous, public space art performance CyberSpaceLand into the streets of Aberdeen for an intervention that may just inspire a revolution ...
