Open Knowledge Network
Launched at 5 December 08, the Open Knowledge Network is a series of events which aims to bring together new-media artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, programmers and anybody else who works creatively with technology to share experience and exchange ideas. Events consist of "show and tell" sessions, presentations, workshops, screenings, music and the opportunity to meet people working in related fields.
Held at Peacock Visual Arts on a regular basis, this promises to be a very worthwhile and enjoyable series of events. See you there.

Second Language Film Completed
Peacock's Digital Department has completed an animated short which highlights the benefits of having bilingual pupils in the classroom. A young Polish girl and her Scottish classmates were interviewed about the highs and lows of moving through the school system when english is not your first language. To break the ice we introduced the kids to the animation technique of Pixilation. The resulting interviews were edited and the kids 're-cast' as cartoon versions of themselves.
This project is a collaboration between Peacock Visual Arts, Inverurie Academy and Aberdeenshire Council.
Film highlights needs of Autistic Youth
We have completed work on a short film which will be used to demonstrate to educators some of the specific needs of young people with autism. The film focusses on a local group of young people with Asperger's Syndrome who have christened themselves the 'Triple A Team'. Through a series of interviews they outline some of the obstacles that they face everyday as they try to navigate through school whilst coping with their condition.
This project was made with the collaboration with the VSA Carers Centre, Aberdeen.
