Route 181: Fragments of a Journey in Israel-Palestine (2004) is a documentary road movie by Israeli filmmaker Eyal Sivan and Palestinian filmmaker Michel Khleif that retraces the line of the partition of Israel and Palestine proposed by the UN in 1947. The film is split into three 90-minute sections (South, Centre, North), revealing the fragments of a collective history in a land shattered by politics, war, and colonialism. The film’s epic length and attention to details (gestures, inflections, signs of historical erasure and revision) give a fuller understanding of this conflicted part of the world.
