Welcome

Welcome to Cruel Weather, a festival of recent film/video from the Arab Middle East, organised by Peacock Visual Arts and curated by Jay Murphy, of the University of Aberdeen's Centre for Modern Thought.

Cruel Weather explores artistic responses to crisis and the role of the moving image in today's Middle East. The festival showcases a fantastic series of award-winning documentaries, experimental and mixed genre works, many of which have never before been screened in Scotland.

Screenings take place at various venues around Aberdeen, including Peacock Visual Arts, the Belmont Picturehouse and Aberdeen University.

The festival has been organised in partnership with Filmhouse Cinema (Edinburgh), Glasgow Film Theatre and Dundee Contemporary Arts, where the festival tours afterwards.
