Dalziel + Scullion

17 February - 14 April, 2007

Some Distance from The Sun

Peacock Visual Arts presents the first public showing of Dalziel + Scullion’s new filmic botanical studies, since their commission earlier this year by HBOS. The exhibition, held at Aberdeen Art Gallery, runs from 17 February till 14 April.

The specimens portrayed present a topography of species, observing the major ‘steps’ that have taken place as plants evolved out of water to land: through vascular development, the invention of ‘dry’ seeds and then after 200 million years of refining growth – the creation of flowers and seed carrying fruits.

This work is shown together with a new suite of prints by Dalziel + Scullion made at Peacock Visual Arts.

Matthew Dalziel and Louise Scullion are Scottish based artists who have worked in collaboration since 1993, during that time they have produced a significant body of work that has been widely shown nationally and internationally. Their work encourages us to look anew at our habitat, questioning what significance our estrangement from nature will have on our future survival. Read more about Dalziel + Scullion
