Ark. A project by the Vacuum Cleaner
14 May - 24 May, 2007
"Like it or not, mass flooding is a problem we all face. However, don't lose hope."

The project
Artist/activist The Vacuum Cleaner has been on site on the Castlegate from 14 May until 23 May to erect a magnificent ecological Ark out of cardboard. The Glasgow based artist and accompanying team of 6 young artists, environmental activists and members of the local community helped out and shared their skills.
James says about the project: “This art work is part of a massive growth in artist dealing practically with Climate Chaos. The notions of building the Ark is of course ridiculous, but not even half as bonkers as knowingly destroying what keeps us alive.”
The launch of the Ark: 23rd of May, 7pm, after which the heavens may open...
- 14 - 22 May: Ark building 10am-6pm
- 19 and 20 May: Animals workshop
- 23 May, 7pm: S.O.S. followed by the Christening of the Ark
- 24 May: the heavens open
