J. Gordon Brown

11 May – 15 June 2013

A stunning collection of large scale abstract paintings and prints by J.Gordon Brown

Based in Wasps in Aberdeen, J. Gordon Brown paints beautiful, emotive works, taking influence from what may ordinarily go unnoticed; working with photographs of his colourful surroundings in the Granite City.

In collaboration with Iain Gildea, Brown has entered into the world of the moving image, creating a film that will be included in the Colour Abstracts exhibition.

The film, along with the full collection of paintings and a new print made in the Peacock Visual Arts workshop, will be revealed at the opening on Friday 10 May at 6pm.

An exhibition catalogue has also been published in association with Gray's School of Art, and is available to purchase for £8 from the gallery.

Futureproof 2013

Exhibition runs 29 June – 27 July 2013

Peacock Visual Arts FUTUREPROOF opening – Friday 28 June 6 – 8pm

Street Level Photoworks FUTUREPROOF opening – Saturday 29 June 3 – 5pm

Peacock Visual Arts and Street Level Photoworks will once again profile a selection of new talent from BA Fine Art and Photography courses across Scotland. It will embrace aspects of the ways that younger and emerging image-makers engage with photography in analogue and digital forms. Expect both 2D, still and moving image. There will be two exhibitions, installed across two venues: the 'flat', wall-based work presented at Street Level, while Peacock Visual Arts will explore the porous nature of the still and the moving image and their convergence in installation.

Artists In Print: 21 Years of Collaboration

Exhibition runs 3 August – 14 September 2013

Opening Friday 2 August, 6 – 8pm, all welcome!

With kind sponsorship form anCnoc, ‘Artists In Print: 21 Years of Collaboration’ is an exhibition celebrating 21 years of printmaker Michael Waight’s collaboration with a wide variety of artists at Peacock Visual Arts, Aberdeen. Work by local, national and international artists, all produced at Peacock Visual Arts over the years will be presented side-by-side for the first time. An eclectic mix of styles and techniques will be on show, from simple beginning-of-career relief prints, to the most complex and beautiful copper etchings.

A gallery walk-around and informal talk with Michael will also be held at the gallery, to coincide with Impact8 Conference and the Scottish Print Festival.
