This exhibition by David Rushton includes meticulous model interiors of an artist's workplace; the artist's studios, gallery, conceptual art museum, factory and classroom. A founder member of the Analytical Art Group in the 1960s and later a member of Art & Language, Rushton explores the cultural and material conditions of working in art as an unfinished ongoing narrative. 2008 sees the 20th anniversary of Piper Alpha, the worst offshore oil disaster to have occured in the North Sea. Photographer Owen Logan's work is characteristically critical of the oil economy. This exhibition shows his view in a series of powerful portraits. Read more

Brian Ross: Painting live at Peacock

Aberdeen-based artist Brian Ross paints a new mural on the gallery walls of Peacock Visual Arts. Previous work by the artist is on display in the reception gallery. Lifting. Theft in Art. Curated by Atopia Projects

"Lesser artists borrow, great artists steal."- Igor Stravinsky. Lifting creates an archive of historical and contemporary works of radical appropriation - how theft and vandalism are 'lifted' from criminal behaviour and into the art sphere. The results are humourous and poignant revelations on the absurdity of the legal and social ideas of ownership, originality and copyright. Read more

Z + (Blue)2 , the enigmatic artist collective, active 2001 to 2005 in Aberdeen, expanded from printmaking into the fields of design, interactive programmes, film and video. This exhibition is dedicated to our friend and colleague Jonathan Jones, celebrating his unique approach and skill as an artist. Jonathan's work received an Aberdeen Artists' Society Award in Spring 2005.

Black Sea Files

Swiss artist, theorist and curator Ursula Biemann examines the giant oil pipeline which starts at the Black Sea and passes through Georgia to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. Ten video files track the logistic technology of the pipeline, comment on the urban and rural transformations, engage with the people who live along side its trajectory and reflect on the oil history and politics of the region. Adaptation

5 May - 16 June

Adaptation, Peacock Visual Arts’ contribution to the SixCitiesDesign Festival, looks into the impact of, the use and the changes of design in the everyday life of its users. We have invited artists, who are interested in such issues, to develop new work for Aberdeen, ranging from interventions in public space, to talks, and pamphlets. Read more

Ark. A project by The Vacuum Cleaner.

"Like it or not, mass flooding is a problem we all face. However, don't lose hope." Artist/activist The Vacuum Cleaner will be on site on the Castlegate to erect a magnificent Ark out of cardboard. Members of the local community are invited to help him save the animals (also made out of cardboard). A christening of the Ark will happen on the evening of the 23rd of May, 7pm, after which the heavens may open... Read more

Through an online databank, virtual lectures, film screenings and a series of workshops Dutch collective De Geuzen will explore what constitutes a female icon. They will use the silkscreen and digital facilities at Peacock visual arts to produce a dinnerware set of contemporary female icons with local women's groups and students. Read more

Francis Boag. Francis is particularly known for his paintings, but with Peacock printmakers he produced two collagraphs with chine collé. The learning about this new process has inspired him to incorporate these new found techniques into his painting practice. Peacock showed his new work together with a selection of his paintings in the exhibition 'In Transit' at the end of 2005.

Danger Museum was established in 1998 and is based in Asia and Europe. Directors Øyvind RENBERG (Oslo), and Miho SHIMIZU (Tokyo) represent the collective. Danger Museum choose the Beatles as a way to get to know people in Aberdeen, because they are so widely known that almost everyone has an opinion about them.
